Awards & Recognition

In DBT, a credential is not a formality. It is the difference between a therapist who has read about the treatment and one who has been independently tested delivering it as it was designed. Here is the verifiable proof behind DBT Center of Long Beach.

Spotlight: what board certification actually means

These three answers are also the FAQPage schema for this page.

What is DBT-Linehan Board Certification?

The certification created specifically to verify that a clinician delivers Dialectical Behavior Therapy with fidelity to the treatment as designed, developed with input from Dr. Marsha Linehan and her colleagues. It requires more than an attestation of completed training.

How is it different from “DBT training”?

Many therapists complete a DBT training course. Board Certification goes further, requiring a work-product video submission and a rigorous case review, so the assessment looks at how a clinician actually delivers the treatment, not just whether they attended a course.

Why does it matter when choosing a provider?

“We offer DBT” is a claim any practice can make. A board-certified clinician on staff is one of the few ways a client can verify, independently of the practice's own marketing, that DBT is being delivered as intended.

Testimonials

  • DBT Center of Long Beach was a shining light while my world was crumbling. My teenage son was experiencing a mental health emergency, and I had no idea how to navigate this world. Tiana was so comforting during intake, making me feel like it was the perfect place to care for my baby. Tiana and her staff are so welcoming and warm. My son is thriving after being with his therapist, Nicole. She communicates with me frequently but still holds his privacy as a priority. If I ever have a concern or question, she is immediately available. DBT Center of Long Beach has not only given my son the tools he needs to navigate his emotional and mental health, but they have also helped ease my anxiety. I can't thank them enough for caring for my baby.
